Volunteering

To volunteer with HHoops in any capacity — coaching, age group coordinator, time clock, or otherwise — you’ll need three active clearances on file: PA State Police Criminal Background, Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Background Check.

How To Submit Your Clearances

HHoops uses Background Manager to track and store every volunteer’s clearance records. Follow the steps below to get set up.

  1. Go to backgroundmanager.com.
  2. Already have an account? Log in and upload your up-to-date clearances.
  3. Click the Start Background Check button at the top of the page.
  4. On the Get Started tab, enter H Hoops into the Organization Code box, then click the Start Background Check button.
  5. On the Account Type tab, review and complete the three questions on the page, then click Next.
  6. Enter your personal information on the Basic Information tab, then click Next.
  7. On the Upload Clearances tab, upload your up-to-date clearances.
  8. Complete the electronic signature and submit your application.

PA State Police Criminal Background

Apply through the Pennsylvania State Police PATCH system. Select “New Volunteer Record Check” when starting your application.

Apply for your PA Child Abuse History Clearance through the Department of Human Services.

FBI Background Check

Lived in PA for 10+ consecutive years? This is handled automatically through Background Manager. Otherwise, apply directly with the state.
