Code of Conduct

HHoops is a non-profit community organization based in Horsham Township, Montgomery County, PA, dedicated to giving young people in our area the opportunity to learn, play, and enjoy the game of basketball. It’s essential for parents, coaches, and officials to model good sportsmanship — demonstrating fairness, respect, and self-control — so our youth athletes can do the same.

Code of Conduct

I pledge to be responsible for my words and actions while attending, coaching, officiating, or participating in a youth sports event, and to conform my behavior to the following:

  • ✋ I will not engage in or encourage unsportsmanlike conduct with any coach, parent, player, participant, official, or other attendee.
  • ✋ I will not engage in or encourage behavior that would endanger the health, safety, or well-being of any coach, parent, player, participant, official, or other attendee.
  • ✋ I will not use drugs or alcohol at a youth sports event, and will not attend, coach, officiate, or participate while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
  • ✋ I will not permit my child, or encourage anyone else, to use drugs or alcohol at a youth sports event, or to attend, coach, officiate, or participate while under the influence.
  • ✋ I will not engage in or encourage the use of profanity.
  • ✋ I will treat — and encourage others to treat — every coach, parent, player, participant, official, and attendee with respect, regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, or ability.
  • ✋ I will not engage in or encourage verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player, participant, official, or other attendee.
  • ✋ I will not initiate or encourage a fight or scuffle with any coach, parent, player, participant, official, or other attendee.

Code of Conduct Violations

I agree that if I fail to conform my conduct to the pledge above, I will be subject to disciplinary action — including, but not limited to, the following, in any order or combination. All matters relating to the above are decided by the HHoops Board of Directors, and all Board decisions are final.

  1. 1Verbal warning issued by a league, organization, or school official.
  2. 2Written warning issued by a league, organization, or school official.
  3. 3Suspension or immediate ejection from a youth sports event, issued by an authorized league, organization, or school official.
  4. 4Suspension from multiple youth sports events, issued by an authorized league, organization, or school official.
  5. 5Season suspension or multiple-season suspension, issued by a school board or youth sports organization.

Gym Rules

HHoops depends on our partnership with Hatboro-Horsham School District to use their facilities, so it’s important to follow all rules and requests from the district. Gym availability can change on short notice, and we’ll always defer to the school’s event schedule. These rules apply to every facility used for HHoops games and practices.

  • Please don’t enter the gymnasiums or schools before the time your coach advises (typically 5 minutes before practice or a game).
  • Please don’t drop off children at practices or games unless a coach is visibly present. Children can’t enter or be left unattended without a responsible adult.
  • Please leave as soon as practice or the game is over and don’t linger — we often go right up to our allotted time.
  • No ball playing, dribbling, or other play in the hallways of any Hatboro-Horsham School District facility or House of HHoops.
  • Please leave all facilities in the same or better condition than you found them, taking all trash and items with you.
  • Non-playing children must not be left unattended during practices or games — this includes lobbies and hallways outside the gym or House of HHoops.
  • Please be respectful of any other groups we share the space with.
  • Please don’t prop open any doors that aren’t meant to be unlocked.
  • Please put away any chairs or items used for our events.

Facility-Specific Rules

In addition to the general gym rules above, each facility has a few rules of its own. Anyone found in violation of these is subject to review under the Code of Conduct.

House of HHoops

  • Don’t park in reserved spots — violators will be towed at the owner’s expense.
  • Don’t leave non-playing children unattended; they may not enter any office or business without adult supervision.

Blair Mill Elementary

  • No one is allowed behind the stage curtain during practices or games, unless retrieving or returning basketballs.

Hallowell Elementary

  • Don’t remove chairs from behind the stage curtain, or play with or remove gym equipment from the closet or hallway near the water fountain.
  • Need a chair during a practice or game? Folding chairs are in the gym closet — please fold and return them before you leave.

Keith Valley Middle School

  • No one at KVMS for a basketball game should enter the natatorium for any reason.
  • Parents should never enter the boys’ or girls’ locker rooms located between the natatorium and gymnasium.
